Our Mission and Vision
In service of God and our neighbor
our mission
The members of Trinity Lutheran boldly proclaim the gospel of Christ to the Waukesha community and its neighbors that all might believe in Christ, belong to our spiritual family, blossom in faith, and build God’s Kingdom.
Trinity in 2030
We envision Trinity being a church that strives to make fully devoted followers of Christ. Trinity will have high-expectations for members: to be faithful in their connection to the means of grace, and to be faithful in their participation in Trinity's mission to proclaim the gospel.
We envision Trinity as being a multi-culture church, the result of zealous efforts to reach out to all people in our community.
We envision ministry being planned and operated largely by members. Members are encouraged and empowered to plan and implement opportunities for topical Bible study, opportunities for community or congregational service, and opportunities for recreational fellowship. These opportunities are compiled and promoted on a regular basis. Pastoral type called workers provide spiritual guidance and, when necessary, training, as a way in assisting these efforts.
We envision that through these groups and other fellowship opportunities, every Trinity member has a chance to develop a "Christian clan," i.e. a group of Christian friends who provide the encouragement, counsel and accountability believers need on this Christian walk. Trinity will be a large church, enabling it to offer certain services and accoutrements that smaller churches may not be able to offer. Yet, there will be many opportunities to develop close connections with other Trinity members, so that there is the intimacy of the smaller group as well.
We envision Trinity offering the premier educational opportunity for children in Waukesha county. The school will be the place where even unchurched parents hope their children can go, due to the excellent, dedicated teachers and the quality of education offered. Youth education at Trinity is viewed by parents as a springboard to future academic success for their children. In part, this is because Trinity will offer dual-language options in its curriculum, something highly desired by a large segment of the parish area and higher academic institutions. Yet, Trinity's main goal in offering that childhood education is to share Jesus Christ with children.
We envision that Trinity's primary strategy for evangelism is personal witnessing. Members actively look for unbelieving/unchurched people that God brings into their life. There is a simple contract between members and pastors. Members promise to regularly bring unchurched friends and family to worship. Pastors promise that those worship guests will be warmly welcomed when they visit, that what happens in that worship will be easily accessible to those worship guests, and that those worship guests will be followed up on promptly and repeatedly, and that, if those worship guests join, there will be a systematic assimilation process to ensure that they remain active members.
We envision Trinity working more closely with other WELS congregations, when that makes good sense, for certain ministry efforts. (Example: joint youth group mission trips).
Only God know the future. Only God can grow his Church. However, we know he does that work through us. We believe it possible that if we work zealously to do all we can with the gospel—building up the faithful, pursuing the straying, and reaching the lost—that by 2030, Trinity could be close to 2000 members again. We envision at least 200 of those being Latino brothers and sisters in Christ. We envision the school having a capped enrollment of around 240, with a waiting list. We envision at least 25% of that enrollment are Latino children.
We commit this vision to the Lord of the Church. We ask him to send us his Spirit, that we might have the wisdom and zeal required to achieve it.
